Firstly Masdamind has a new Xmas album ‘How Masdamind Mashed Up Christmas Vol. 2′ and I liked the moody take on Thurl Ravenscroft vs Billie Eilish – You’re A Bad Guy, Mr. Grinch….mixing Bad Guy with the Grinch theme is perfect.
Also pairing a non-Midnights (IS THAT POSSIBLE?) Taylor Swift track with err.. Pirate Rap? It’s perfect for Bootie and pirates everywhere… YAARR!!
I listened to Lee Spoon’s (1000 Spoons) festive Noisebox radio Mashup mix – during which as well as the traditional Teardrops In The Air he played his new Do They Know It’s Aphexmas – yes Band Aid vs Aphex Twin – mashup. Lubbly jubbly! Love to know who did that Cars – Drive vs Wonderful Christmastime mashup, I couldn’t find it on Radio Clash but so familiar….
(Although DJNoNo is calling his lawyers over the Mariah Carey – All I Want For Christmas Is You drum and bass mis :-P)
Eminem’s Without Me? #toosoon? (this was mashed to death in 2003, like WAP and Montero after it, so still feel it’s a little ‘too soon’ nearly 20 years later (yes, it was THAT bad because it was one of the few acapellas available). Love the Matzemix pairing it with a strange techno version of Silent Night tho.
Although always thought dance versions of Silent Night kind of go against the idea of the song, which is quiet. I mean the mouse is not raving?
And an acid workout of the Waitresses – Christmas Wrapping anyone? That’s not quiet either….Budtheweiser bringing the festive boom. I still sing LOVE WILL TEAR US APART over those horns, though.
And I think the last word before Chrizzlemas has to go to Amoraboy – it’s an old one I missed from 2019, from Marjo’s Best Spirit Christmas compilation which I must have missed…,many French bootleggers on there. So it’s Lily Allen vs a rather odd version of the Wham classic which makes it rather Crumpl – so of course it’s ‘Fuck Christmas’, How appropriate.
Have a tolerable one everyone! Or just hide until it’s all over….that’s what I’ll do.
