Yeah tis the season, where I have to create a Christmas podcast well before people leave work to go home for Christmas, but of course projects and mashups get released in the hinterland between that and Christmas Day….and so I go DOH when something drops that I’d have loved to have had a week ago.
There might not be a second part of this, but I suspect there will….cos like the meal itself, there are always more leftovers than you expect.
Such is the Audioboots Christmas album, which just dropped today. I especially like the ones from satis5d making Radiohead creepily festive, Minor Arth, (who picked up on the fact that The Universal was the only sort-of Xmas song Blur did, it was released around Xmas that year) and Xam’s mega festive mash.
Have to say I was a bit of a Grinch when I first heard the latter, a little too festive (I have very bad flashbacks of that Mud track and I hate Band Aid for many reasons), but it’s grown on me after a couple of listens (and Xam’s 8-bit Xmas track was featured in the latest podcast as a bed!) And Adriana was complaining there wasn’t enough Ed Sheeran and Elton John mashes…well there you are!

And then there is this wonderful/dreadful Soundclown version of Cbat mixed with All I Want For Christmas is You – giving both Hudson Mohawke and Mariah Carey the ‘not’ Queen of Christmas the respect they deserve…i.e. none. If there was an Xmas song i could ban, it would be that one….Apparently There I Runied It did it first, but I can’t find that version despite searching….
