Christmas Leftovers 2: Last Christmas to Fuck The Tories

Well firstly before the obligatory Wham – Last Christmas mashups (who on earth makes those?) we have to cover The Kunts who are aiming to knock that ‘sausage roll grifter’ off the Xmas #1 with the wonderfully BBC-friendly title of Fuck The Tories. I love the Cassetteboy and Mr B remixes especially.

Now I’ve had my questions re: The Kunts pocketing a lot of money off these protest singles, but they quite rightly point out how BlokeChild or whatever they are called have said that 100% of the profits of their cover of ‘Do They Know It’s Christmas’ would go to charity, whereas the original was 100% of the entire proceeds. Certainly Sausage Roll ManKiddiie and his wife are now magically millionaires off all these ‘charity singles’. They also praised Boris Johnson, so fuck em too.

There are also mixes and versions from Spray, Ricardo Da Autobahn with Supertanskiii, Rob Manuel, Petrol Bastard and many more available here.

Anyway love the drum and bassage on the Mr B mix. I might get this one and play it….hope it gets to #1. And yes, fuck the Tories, they ARE all the same, however nicely they try and spin it, Anyone who is anything to do with this current government has had plenty of warning now of what they are really like – corrupt, inept and cold-hearted wannabe fascists. There I said it.

Last Christmas I found this Mash, but the very next podcast I didnt give it a play….

This mashuo by Bruxx of Wham’s Last Christmas almost made the podcast – it didn’t because there were a few too many of them, and also there are slight tuning issues with the George vocal. It’s a combo I actually considered for mine and then realised it had been done – several times actually. But not perfectly.

Another Wham – Last Christmas mash that I wish I’d had by the last podcast is this disco Chio one by Ayee Mashups. I was worried when pressed play because Chic quite often catches people out – not simple 4/4 and Nile likes a lot of ‘jazzy’ spicy chords. But this is a good LC mash. Goes in the stack for next year.,…next year….

There aren’t enough reggae mashes, as I said on my end of year mash let alone Alborosie, who I suspect many mashup folks don’t know but Rodigan has been featuring a lot over the last years. Not totally sure thematically this Elmars mashup works, but ANY mashup with Alborosie is welcome, even if it’s with the dreaded Mariah sCarey.

Turn Down For What Xmas version anyone?ANYONE? BUELLER?

There’s a few of these doing Xmas house/techno/extreme bass tunes (some taking Mariah’s ooh vocal at the end of the All i Want…intro and turning it into a refrain… but I like the little jingle bells bits in this one by Andreoli’s bootlegs. And was anyone expecting DJ Snake to sound so…festive? Shame it’s only a 128kbs MP3. What is this, 2002?
