Mimi Parker (right) from Low has died

RIP Mimi Parker of Low

If you’ve listened to the podcast for a while or read the blog you’ll know how much of a fan of Low I am, the Duluth, Minnesota post-rock band whose work has never left my iPod in decades. Mimi Parker, Alan Sparhawk’s wife shared vocals and co-wrote the songs, and played drums has died.

I am totally gutted cos I’ve seen them a few times and hoped to see them again, and love their work, all 13 albums are amazing. The most latest is HEY WHAT, which Hey and All Night is featured above and below.

There are literally too many of her songs to call, but Laser Beam from their classic ‘Things We Lost In The Fire’ is definitely one of those up there, as is ‘Into You’ from the criminally overlooked 20015 album Ones and Sixes.

And appropriately and sadly, her vocal on Low’s Dylan cover, Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door which now has new extra meaning.

Fuck cancer. She will be missed greatly.
