Radio Clash Live

Radio Clash Live – Again!

Back in 2007 I was an early pioneer in live podcasting – i.e streaming your podcast while you are recording. Back then it was Icecast or Shoutcast only audio streaming, and eventually it became Radio Clash Live (the online radio station) I ran in the early 10’s.

Again it was hard to keep Radio Clash Live going with a few listeners back then (trying to get people to listen to a radio stream was like pulling hen’s teeth), and I eventually put Radio Clash Live aka Classic Bootleg Radio station on auto for many years, and it died in a server update a year or so ago and I couldn’t fix it.

But now, with Twitch and YouTube live streaming, there is an audience for live DJing and streaming – with a visual aspect!

Something I’ve wanted to do for a while is stream my podcast recordings live again, but on these new systems, but with the new came technical headaches, like spaghetti level audio routing and wanting to be able to mix and monitor, chat to people off air and record a podcast with separate parts – too much for one machine. Or is it?

I did a few trials last night on my Twitch channel and I think I have the All New Radio Clash Live – it’s fairly simple (think of it as Back To Basics stream – an Acoustic Twitch set so to speak – no hypetrains, no emojis, no animated gifs! I don’t like those things anyway) as the more ornate system using another laptop repeatedly failed last night. Maybe when i get another machine I will do it that way. Video and a chat box is very present though.

I also learned that DJing in 3D glasses is hard, we might have a channel mascot (I think it has to be called Uni), and that it’s all very possible to do even with one machine if you don’t use the CPU hog that is OBS. And got my video pulled down in Facebook Live by Warner (grr). So I won’t be streaming there….

But I am planning to stream Radio Clash 362 on Twitch, Twitter and my YouTube channel at 7:30pm UK time this Saturday, followed ar around 10pm by Dunproofin and Matt Catt (to be confirmed but yes, the party will continue with raids). Yes there will be chat across all platforms using Restream. Yes there will be silliness. Yes there will be good eclectic weird and wonderful tunes (it is not a mashup podcast tho, I have decided to give those a rest for a while -anyway I just released one!).

362 will be more punky, jungle world-beats bizness than the trial which was a sneak peak at a upcoming disco episode – you lucky people, you heard the future!

I dunno if I’ll get all the podcast recorded in that slot, but most of it, yes.
