After Pengshui, another recent punk gem is Sweden’s Viagra Boys – kind of like an amphetamine Fat White Family that shops at IKEA and not ALDI. Started in 2015, they seem similarly genre blind like Fat White, and have a post punk funk thing going on – as well as country and electro….
You can hear this most in the track ‘Aint Nice’ and it’s direct video sequel, ‘Creatures’. which seems to owe as much debt to Nick Cave or Japan (?) as Gang of Four, as well as the driving punk funk of ‘Girls and Boys’ from the Shrimp Sessions. Middle aged men fight in comments on which band this sounds like” indeed.
