PENGSHui This Is My Youth punk hiphop grime

This is PENGSHUi

Why didn’t anyone tell me of PENGSHUi?

Beards, hiphop, grime, punk, like a bearded Bob Vylan with a NikNaks, ST:NG and Thundercats obsession…this is totally me. What did I say about punk revivals a year or so ago? Seems to be slowly coming true – the aforementioned Vylan, Slowthai, IDLES, Clockworks, Sleaford, LOUD Women, Dream Nails and many many others I probably don’t know yet.

But as I’ve said before not in the form the Mojo bores wanted…mixing in hiphop and other genres and I am totally here for that!

And of all places heard about PENGSHUi via the NME – whose current cover stars are bleeding Swedish House Mafia, and anyone listening to the latest podcast would know how much I love SHM. Or how to be accurate, how little. SHM? More FHM/H&M, whereas punkier heavier takes on Sleaford Mods with more beardage and better bops? Save the world, I want to get on that.

Love Break the Law with P Money…..and what to me feels like the unity anthem ‘Little Brother’. which slaps HARD. Apparently it’s about talking to your younger selves, but it also feels as a sort of cross-generation hand-up?

And the Arthur Dent meets Bunuel vibes of Move The World:

And they have worked with Flux Pavillion and Pete Cannon, on tracks like the timely Eat The Rich:

Their second album Destroy Yourself is out in January, in the meantime checkout their ranty beardage over at their Bandcamp.
