Destino Butterfly Boy LemonHed records

Departure, Homebound Kid & Lemon Hed Records

I’ve played Departure on the podcast in the past, really loved their eponymous first? album and they are involved with a few other projects of a similar plunderphonics/experimental/chilled vein.

One is Homebound Kid with Butterfly Boy, who have an album “Not So World Famous”. out in June which I am looking forward to as I’m really liking their second single ‘The Girl I Knew’. Both singles are good, but I’m a sucker for ambient chilled vibes and cutups. Think Found Sound Orchestra, Avalanches, that kind of thing – but I hesitate to make comparisons because all the artists here definitely have their own voices.

Another project Departure is involved with is co-managing Lemon Hed records with Lav Kazan, a label owned by Tokyocat. On that label is Destino, a solo track from Butterfly Boy. Talking of blissful seaside vibes…also from an upcoming album.

And indeed the upcoming second album from Departure “Quilts” is sounding really promising as well, more of a funky beats/blend/hip-hop feel, a bit of sea change (pun intended) from the last one. 🙂

I need to check out more from this label, one to watch definitely, and you will hear more of these artists on the podcast.

Many thanks to PomDeter for the nod re: Departure a few months ago.
