It seems our old friend lvlvlv1 has been busy. Not only has he (I think it’s a he if that’s him on his site) been posting fraudulently as two different people (same IP 98.77.31.17 , adsl-77-31-17.mia.bellsouth.net – dead giveaway!) on this blog in defense of himself, but he just sent this lovely little note from his hotmail address:

Nice. Thing is he is actually claiming my remix work, my mashups as his own, and Pomdeter’s too, and probably others. So he is stealing (claiming credit for things he didn’t do) and a plagiarist. I don’t think ‘telling the truth’ fits under ‘Hate speech’ do you? (even talentless – well if you had talent you’d not need to steal – but I took that off since he MIGHT have some talent somewhere. Even if it’s just a talent for stealing other people’s work and then threatening them when they complain. That’s a talent I guess?)
Reporting me, well I might have minor interruption to the blog or have some explaining to do (doubtful), but I pointed out to him that GoDaddy might tip off Google over his Blogspot blog – and they tend to just delete copyrighted stuff and ask questions later.
I’ve slightly toned down the post reverted it back – Godaddy have been totally quiet, I wonder why? but the accusations stand…and if he has a problem with that then take it up with GoDaddy and see where that gets him – or change the credit. I think changing the credit and being honest about the mashups he didn’t make MIGHT be easier?
We’ll see. So if this site goes down – which would be temporary, I have a feeling it won’t I need to talk to my host – then blame the wondrous and multi-talented lvlvlv1 (according to his mother).
Update: check out this laughable blog by the man himself. I notice he chose the example to be the one where he has actually done something to someone else’s mashup (added some Star Trek samples – woo) – if you want to hear Martinn’s side of it he’s commented here. Not Pom’s or my mashups which are exactly – digitally -the same – not recreated, rebadged.
Thing is – he’s NOT recreated my mashup. It’s exactly the same. Production is the same – even the rare spoken word samples I think are in there. The likelihood of him using exactly the same sources, in exactly the same way (reordering and restructuring, looping and all), exactly the same production (glitching, reverb etc) with exactly the same plugins with exactly the same settings is almost nil. And Pom has compared the waveforms side by side for his mashup – it’s a copy. So the recreation argument is bull.
Also his YouTube is suspended (someone else taking umbrage?) and doesn’t link his Hotmail anywhere from his blog which also has no comments (I would have commented on his blog first if I could) – so rather hard to ‘contact’ him. I wonder why? Maybe it’s because he’d get quite a few people saying ‘hey! That’s MY work!’ on his blog.
And I still think he’s a talentless kitten.
