I heard Grove being interviewed on 6Music and loved it. I heard Feed My Desire and immediately had to check their stuff out that second, Lamacq described it they are punk dancehall, they are proudly black and queer and Bristol represent… basically why did no-one tell me of them? It’s totally up my street.
Their music is a mix dancehall, hiphop/grime, Prodigy beats and breaks with a punk ethos so Lammo was on point, like the noisy breaks of ‘Ur Boyfriend’s Wack’ or Sticky off the Queer + Black mini-album from 2021. And it doesn’t have a video but Fuck Ur Landlord goes hard.
Lucky people who got tickets will see Grove supporting the mighty Bob Vylan…those will be amazing gigs. I tried to get tickets for London, am on the waitlist but I think it’s sold out. Like with Glasto, not had much luck with tickets this year :-/
Also these are earmarked for upcoming podcasts, but her collab with Lynks (formerly Lynks Afrikka) BBB – Big Bad Bitch with salty banging attitude & Bounce outro is a dead cert for June’s podcast as a nod to Pride.
