Unexpected but great news recently that Everything But The Girl have a new album ‘Fuse’ in the works, and they just dropped this song from it. With the past career of Everything But The Girl it could be anything from drum and bass to acoustic folk, but ‘Nothing Left To Lose’ seems to build on Tracey Thorn‘s solo career into a slow groover.
What really sells it is the amazing video directed by Charlie Di Placido which is #mood….When it started I was like ‘oh another dancing video’ but that shortly changed – I mean one of the dancers seems to be literally climbing the walls and doing a form of slow-motion breakdancing?
Choreographed by Miranda Chambers it’s an amazing piece, it’s like a fractured form of street dance. Love the location too, looks like Tooting or East London…
Also major plus points to Everything But The Girl for crediting everyone….I am sure Tracey and Ben made sure of that…I hate it when a music video drops and there is no info about it.
So yes, the song isn’t a #banger although it might grow on me and I could imagine there could be or are some great remixes….but it bodes really well for the album, and it is very them.
