Sadly woke up to the news today that Mixcloud is ending it’s free tier on December 1st, restricting it to 10 episodes. I uploaded the entirety of Radio Clash Podcast on there, as well as my mixes and various live things and they will stay up apparently – but that means I need a new backup/player place for Radio Clash.
Sad cos they were the only legal place to upload podcasts and mixes, as they paid royalties to the artists….this kind of proves that the honest model doesn’t work, It seems they are struggling and probably not long for this world, as I can see the fairly low audience they have already disappearing out the door.
Enter HearThis (or is it Heart His? Heart his what?) which I’ve been a member of for 7 years as a listener and now converted it to a podcast account. Can’t believe radioclash was not taken, so the new backup home for Radio Clash will be there. I’ll only upload one final podcast to Mixcloud with directions to the new place.
So au revoir Mixcloud (they never partnered with me, nor noticed my podcast so feh to them) and hello HearThis who I know have had a checkered past with the mashup community but I know of other podcasters and DJs on there (Lloydbrary, DJ Useo, Kleptones Listening Club) who haven’t had aggro, so we’ll see how it goes.
