I know Adriana is a Olivia Rodrigo fan, but I noticed how my mashup ends the main album and then the bonus part starts with the same song differently mashed by ah! ..nice sequencing!

What Adriana of Bootie said about longevity in the preamble is very true as well, there are people on there who started in the last year or so, or maybe sooner for the people I don’t know – and some like me who have been doing it nearly two decades (I feel old). Mashups are seen as a flash in the pan, and can be – things like TikTok which is basically Vine and Periscope for a new generation come and go, and so do people who get famous with mashups and then go onto other things. What’s rare is the people who stick with it.
Interesting how many of the same names appear but totally different choices, like a parallel universe (I was checking when I was writing mine to avoid that, and found it wasn’t up yet). There is only one repeat (William Maranci‘s amazing Blink 182 vs Bowie off Meat Mountain) but otherwise bar the fact that we both had Rasputin mashups (damn you TikTok! My selection had a reboot of the mashup that went viral from there, and also a remix was in the charts in the UK this year) it’s very different. Same, yet different.
So glad to see ah!, oki, HyperZyle, oneboredjeu, dunproofin, Shyboy and iWillBattle in there, as well as Lewis Wake – why did I not play that excellent Montero vs Prodigy on the podcast? Montero fatigue I’m guessing…I will rectify that in future. I don’t know DJ Lemon Fresh but LOVE the name,
Marc Johnce has been everywhere this year, deservedly so, I feel he upped his game and is gunning for a certain Ken Schmolli (as Colatron calls him) 😉 Madonna’s Hung Up is total dancefloor marmite – people will leave the floor to that song as quickly as people flock to it, and even though I’ve mashed it before I am still ??? about it, but that one vs Lady Gaga has probably outcamped my Junior Vasquez vs Madonna, which is some going (Madonna Has A Kiki still possibly has that crown I think).
And another keeper I didn’t know from the Bootie selection is Smashcolor’s ‘Savage Survivor Should Work It Outside’ (BLACKPINK vs. Megan Thee Stallion vs. Billie Eilish vs. Destiny’s Child vs. Party Favor & GTA) which works really well.
And I’ll admit the oki one I have been not sure about because Call Me Comfortably Numb (Lil Nas X vs. Pink Floyd) didn’t totally work for me when i first heard it and many people went crazy for it, but it’s growing on me. And also always good to see several fellow Crumplbangers on the Bootie Best of 🙂
