Yes we do actually support original music here still, despite all the mashups littering the place 🙂
Mark like Sean aka Quentin Smirhes was a fellow student on my fine art degree, and together with a few others we were part of the infamous DJ/VJ experimental music night Milk Laboratory, Noisegate magazine and Nether Edge Music Collective – gosh we were busy yet pretentious art students!
We recently reconnected over Milk Laboratory posters no less and glad to hear his music he’s been creating and releasing over at Bandcamp – very much in the vein of the Erased Tapes roster or Pengun Cafe – ambient soundscapes, neo-classical, Nils Frahm/Daniel Avery/Jon Hopkins. Right up my street if you’ve been listening to the podcast where I have been mixing new age and new classical, ambient Eno-esque – in fact Eno proper as well – music together frequently as part of the ‘come down’ endings.
Well my favourite so far has to be the album he’s just released on Bandcamp, ‘Filey’ – recordings from a nearby beach mixed with music inspired by the place itself. Definitely playing this on the next podcast – it was supposed to be on 335 but circumstances meant than became a mashup only podcast at the last minute.
My favourite tracks are Beach Pipe, Clear Coast, Middle Bridge and High Tide.
Always glad to hear of successes of those souls who also suffered three years at Psalter Lane – and actually survived! The quickest thing to put you off a career in fine art is art education I’ve found….:-/
