In New York City, High school girls JUMP!

Not often I like a mashup – if you’ve been involved with listening to mashups for 10 years you tend to not be lapped once but many times with people coming up with the same ideas again and again…but I’m a sucker for a mashup which has a mad idea of genre clash and WTF? factor and suprisingly this is rare. Many people create bland radio-friendly fodder rather than giggling at the evil combination they have created, which is more the Bastard spirit I remember…these are the ones I tend to play on the podcast and post here.

One in the latter camp is MadMixMustang’s The Double Dutch Jump – taking Malcolm McLaren’s track which is already a mashup of sorts and adding in Van Halen – but unlike the depressing avalanche of VH bootlegs in recent times, the addition of Double Dutch stops it getting far too serious with what is actually a completely cheesy ludicrous track. Fun.
