Mashed Up At The Sock Hop Vol 2

Oh hello…I am alive, as you can see from the latest podcast, but not many things bring me out of blog lurkdom, but a new volume of the Sock Hop Rock n’ Roll mashup compilation from iWillBattle will do it! As before, we have rock, and/or roll mashups of a pre-1960’s flavour, with an album from iWillBattle and then an additional platter from other folks.

On the first disk really love Pretty Fly for A Bird Dog, with The Everley Brothers frankly weird Bird Dog meeting The Offspring, and Lato brings some Big Dick Energy to the hop via the Dovells with Big Bristol Energy…I don’t know her….(it’s near Xmas, we can’t mention the M-word lest she arrives and sings THAT song at us).

Big Bopper works SO well with Green Day – Chantilly Lace Paradise, I think that’s a Radio Clash Keeper™, I had to double take cos I was listening to Chase & Status and thought I’d skipped ahead with the one with Connie Francis came on – drum and roll, I like! So that’s another keeper. We need desperately some mashes of Stupid Cupid now…*RADIO CLASH MASHSIGNAL*

Also nice to hear Del Shannon being mashed, that early high-pitched synth, I guess this was a follow up to Runaway? Again flashback to ‘Red Rubber Ball’…another Del track prospective rock mashees should really check out.

Proud to say that both DJNoNo AND tbc open and close the second disc! DJNoNo opens with his interval album track, the Brian Fahey meets Buggles mash, pop pickers! And then tbc’s Driving Miss Crazy closes things out. Other folks on that discncludes the likes of oki, lobsterdust, Eternal Khaos, MadMixMustang, piecesofeight, reconthuse, Mixmstrstel, Barrio Katz, Dunproofin, ToToM, DJ not-I and many more.
