Nature and Numbers – Happy Phi Day!

I knew about the Fibonacci sequence which starts this film and the golden ratio (which becomes the golden spiral when the Fibonacci sequence is plotted out. and is a ratio used not only in nature but also architecture) but not some of the other mathematics in this entrancing film from Cristóbal Vila. Love the Wim Mertens music too, reminds me of Drowning By Numbers which is similarly obsessed by the relation of numbers and nature.

Who knows, if someone had produced that during a maths class I might have paid more attention, rather than boring numbers on a whiteboard…love the simple explanation of these sequences on his website, in English and Spanish.

(OK unlike Pi Day – FOR AMERICANS ONLY, TSK – 3.14 – any day could be Phi day: 1.61803399 = 16th?)
