Aint No Party Like a Boris Party

As a reminder, when this fucking idiot (Boris Johnson) was having a birthday party with ‘bring your own booze’ and maybe cake (or is the cake a lie?) during the lockdown I was sitting alone on the river drawing this – sample title ‘Simply Having A Wild Thyme’ after the houseboat I was drawing.

Note the lack of people, the empty benches. That’s pretty much how it was, bar the odd person stopping (illegally) for a brief period.

The title is deeply and intentionally ironic, I was very much not having a ‘wild time’, I remember sitting out that night because I simply could not stay in the flat any longer and a certain person had pissed me off (again) and things in the small flat were really fractious.

But it seems Boris and his mates were having a wild time, a whale of a time indeed compared to the rest of us? And then lied about it…I find it deeply disturbing that the Westminster leader of the SNP got ordered out of Parliament for basically telling the truth – the PM did lie to Parliament about the parties – and cannot claim he didn’t know, he was at several!

I was sick of drawing the river after nearly 3 months, as I didn’t travel and avoided using buses at that point or most unnecessary travel. I was almost entirely following the rules despite challenges of work and home to the letter.

I was actually worried that the police would arrest me for doing that because you weren’t supposed to stop during your exercise, even though this is my job….that shows you how conscientious I was compared to those in charge.

And my story, although rather sad and lonely is not one of the worst – people missing funerals, weddings, loved ones who died in hospital alone – people sacrificed a lot to follow the rules – the rules made by these people who obviously thought it was a joke, and didn’t apply to them.

To say I’m still incandescently and violently angry about this is the understatement of the year, The pandemic stole a lot from me, where some other twats were having nice cheese and wine parties and loving every minute of it?

Fuck Boris and his fucking Party.
