Low - Disappearing video

Low – Disappearing

Oh the new Low song had to not only grab me by the feels, sound different to anything (like Drums and Guns, they’re playing with production again. Moooom!) AND express in the video part of my personal weirdness/hell of the last 17 months by showing a Zoom life drawing class.

How do they do it?

Simultaneously connected and disconnected, that specific pandemic late capitalist alienation. The toll of us living and surviving online.

And the feels come from the joy of body positivity and (as I read it) queerness of the male gaze on masculine presenting bodies that are not traditionally beautiful but are reclaiming that space. LOVE. A new Low album is always a Big Thing around here, but even more so for this.

And the musos are ALREADY moaning about the distortion, as they did with Drums and Guns….an amazing album and you just get used to it and it becomes a special part of the sound. I suspect September’s HEY WHAT will be similarly shifting.

And bonus, the first track released from their 13th album (!) is Days Like These, which sounds like gospel fed through Daniel Lopatin‘s distortion unit.
