Loving this new remix of Run The Jewels – Ooh La La, real Cumbia/Mariachi/Mexican flavour and introduced me to Santa Fe Klan aka Ángel Quezada, the rapper and singer wielding an accordion in the video.
Now, accordions are like instant bait to me, so I had to check out Santa Fe Klan’s other videos – the most recent Soledad is more traditional fare, but I love the video for Vuelve, Maria – a mix of new and old, a psychedelic journey through the desert – is that peyote? Shamanistic pagan vibes mixed of course with Catholicism. There is a definite Jodorowsky vibe going on here….wish I knew Spanish!
And a bonus video is this live video of RTJ doing Walking In The Snow for Holy Calamavote in October on Cartoon Network/Adult Swim – they did the whole of RTJ4 live and are releasing it on their YouTube in sections. Love the legendary Gangsta Boo guest spot and of course that breathtaking breakdown.
