Jarv…Is’s Beyond the Pale drops tomorrow and in anticipation here’s the video for ‘House Music All Night Long’.
Although I’ve played this and another track from it on the podcast. I never checked out the video which fulfils Jarvis Cocker’s working class Bond aspirations as detailed in ‘I Spy’ but in a surprising way with Jarv as the dancing ladies! It’s become a Covid anthem, and bares not a little resemblance to ‘This House Is Condemned’ and Separations era Pulp. Also the Ministry of Funny Walks 😉
My spies tell me the album is good yet patchy, and these are the best two tracks as well as Swanky Modes and I Am A Pharaoh. Leonard is very strong in this one, reincarnated as a Lanky Lazarus. With early Pulp vibrations, “It”, and “Masters.of the Universe” even down to the Russell-esque Violin and Saskia style backing vocals?

It does feel like he has assembled Pulp V2? Or maybe he is becoming a 70’s interior obsessed version of Mark E Smith, and there will be a new lot of Pulp-persons next album? Anyway it’s good to have Jarv back, in whatever form.
