Bootleg/mashup history is very much on my mind at the moment for obvious reasons, so it’s fortunate that Pimpdaddysupreme is doing a set of live two hour video interviews called Masters of Mash with various mashup artists.
Previously he’s interviewed DJBC and ThriftshopXL – seen the DJBC one and it was fascinating, not watched the TXL one yet. But this Wednesday 20th at 7PM BST he is interviewing one of the grandaddies of all things mashup – Trademark G aka Mark Gundersn of The Evolution Control Committee. Without his 1993 ‘Whipped Cream’ – the wickedly funny Herb Alpert vs Public Enemy mashup although they weren’t called mashups then – quite a few of the early bootleg/bastard pop producers would not have been inspired to give it a go.
Check it out over at his Twitch.
And also I am announcing it here first – I am being interviewed as part of this series next week on Wednesday at May 27th, the same time 7pm. on Twitch.
Tune in or be square (or yellow, black and rectangular – oops wrong band!).
Leave a Comment! Be nice….
