Oh cancer, up yours – RIP Poly Styrene of X-Ray Spex

Today comes the surprises news of the death of Poly Styrene at 53 from cancer…she was the lead singer of X-Ray Spex which had a very short but influential career in 1976-9, playing Rock Against Racism with the Clash and later reforming and producing their second album. Sad cos she’d just released a solo album ‘Generation Indigo’ digitally and was I think releasing it physically today. I’ve just bought the new solo album.

Poly – the world is a much greyer place without the likes of you. Playing Identity my favourite X-Ray Spex song very loud atm in honour.
