Hallmighty - Nu Disco Deluxe 4 cover mashups

Hallmighty – Nu Disco Deluxe 4

Been awhile since I checked in with constantly productive Hallmighty and the latest and fourth of the Disco series, Nu Disco Deluxe is a different affair, more mixed with a continous mix – which I’ve not listened to fully yet, but the individual tracks have several real crackers.

Groovy Cash Machine (Hard-Fi vs. Spiller) pushes all my retro buttons, combining Hard-Fi’s Cash Machine with Groovejet by Spiller, weirdly I was messing with Spiller recently as part of a challenge! It’s 2003 all over again and I am here for it. Choose Life 2 (Ewan McGregor vs. Fisher vs. Leftfield) is a Choose Life update with Leftfield’s Phat Planet via Trainspotting 2. and works as an update.

Fluffy Clouds Rising (The Orb vs. The Beloved) is ace but like a few of these, I’d like to hear a longer unmixed version, it feels a little too short.

Oasis fans will be happy with the Falling mashup – continuing a trend of using lesser-known Oasis tracks…and interesting the use of Mika’s Relax, Take It Easy – well mashed back in the day, even with Frankie’s Relax as briefly heard here but nearly all of those were OOK (out of key,) and lost to time.

I did scuttle off like I do frequently with Hallmighty and MarkJMix mashups to find out if another combo had been done as their use of tracks quite often gives me other ideas (Cutting Crew, yes it’s been done, massively – weirdly never noticed the resemblance at the the time, whereas the ‘Relax!’ bit I heard immediately as a Frankie Goes To Hollywood callback.

I did wonder what You’ve Got Something Good (Florence & The Machine vs. Utah Saints) would sound like with Candi Staton rather than the foghorn of Florence. Especially now as I guess Ai could take those blasted bells out of the You Got The Love acapella….
