Jarvis Joins the JAMs KLF music video still from The White Room showing Ford Timelord

Jarvis Joins The JAMS – KLF SSL part 2

After last month’s KLF Chill Out re-release/remake Come Down Dawn, here’s Solid State Logik 2 with the rest of the singles and 12″ releases, from Kylie Said to Jason to Jarvis Joins The JAMs – the latter being culmination of the controversial and messy event in Liverpool a few years ago with Jarvis Cocker and the 400 attendees as the chorus.

They’ve also released the official video to KSTJ, something that was only on bootlegs, using the White Room film footage, again only available on bootlegs, and I think KSTJ was intended for the first version of The White Room – the film – and dropped for later versions using something closer to to what became the White Room album.

Still amazed the thought this would be a massive pop hit, with obscure lyrics about Skippy and ‘Richard in the garden’ sex jokes, and Bill in the video in a very ageist and image-obsessed time for pop music (still is). Apparently the fact this flopped is why plan B of What Time Is Love? and dancefloor domination happened….and also keeping in the background.

Also are b-sides like America No More, and the track they did for the War Child Help! album as The One World Orchestra featuringThe Massed Pipes and Drums of the Children’s Free Revolutionary Volunteer Guards which is a cover of the Magnificent Seven, which I like even they called it ‘a pile of shit’…

But there was a deeply disturbing irony to them recording a song for an album trying to raise a million quid for Bosnian children, when they had just burned that amount and was hawking that frankly shoddy film about it as ‘art’.

And their response when challenged was to disown the charity track, rather than face up to what they’d done with all that money rather than use it for good.

At the time it made a weird sort of sense, now a lot less so. And sounds like Bill Drummond now agrees.
