Developing a child’s 120 year old negative

Not exactly how Mathieu Stern got the date, but this amazing example of cyanotype printing of a 100+ year old glass negative. Yes those gloves are needed because although it’s low toxicity it can give off some cyanide gas in some conditions! But this is a lovely piece, especially for photog geeks, and also the follow up where he hand colours this print in Photoshop, a bit like how they would have done back then. AI is catching up though… via Boing Boing.

Photog geeks might want to avoid the one where he develops 30-40+ year old 120 film found in a Lubitel in…a 120 developing machine! Please do not do this people, old undeveloped film emulsion and backing is fragile, I recommend hand developing old films if you can. Surprised it didn’t snap in the machine.
