Thanks to Boris B a bit of important cutup/mashup history has been now added to the Bootleg Archive one of the first political mashup compilations, 2004's Bushwhacked against Bush and the Iraq war. I recently added Twinkleboi who put this together to the Archive and asked him if he still had it - he said he didn't know where it was, but Boris came to the rescue! It includes tracks by Eve Massacre, DJ Earworm, rx, me (the version here was unique to this, the version elsewhere is v2), Wax Audio from his first release in fact, osymyso, Black Lung, RIAA, Dj Tripp, gordyboy, League of Infinite Justice, Digital Cutup Lounge and many more. It is currently missing only one track - 'Saul Williams & Digital Cutup Lounge - Pledge of Resistance' which given it's been offline for 15 years, that's pretty good. Nearly all these tracks bar RX, osy's and mine were not only missing from the Archive, they weren't on the Internet at all, they were just dead links. So this is an important bit of history to put back out there, and one of the things I am most proud to be involved with in my err 'career'. *cough* Those in the future might ask 'where were you?' when it comes to wars like the invasion of Iraq given the ripples are still felt now, but at least I can say that myself and others made our voices known even this small way. And listening back, it still stands up, and is an important document of the times and also of cutup and mashup/plunderphonics of that era.
