Kate Bush’s Running Up That Hill in Early Middle English

English is a funny one, we think of it now as what is spoken either in the US or UK or indeed International English, but there was a long journey to get there, from Germanic and later French influences, and I think Norse. Here you have Kate Bush‘s Running Up That Hill in Early Middle English – so earlier than Sumer Is Icumen In, and less what we think as English or even Middle English, less Chaucer and more Orm’s English.

Anyway it’s a great cover by the_miracle_aligner, and amazing how you can take RUTH in many directions and it still works as a song. That’s the measure of a classic.
