Glad to so that the sixth part of 72 is now up - and mighty crumpl it is too! If you don't know, 72 is a 72 minute mix of mashup chinese whispers where each person has 72 hours to make their part. Those taking part are many names you'd recognise from the podcast and this blog - and a few you won't *obvious aliases? cough*. *drumroll*...pomDeter, iWillBattle, duuzu, departure, oki, MixmstrStel, CTFX, TheRandomSapphire, DJ Ice Key, LeeDM101, not-I, fnogg, ah!, DiamondBrickZ, DJ Forge, Happy Cat Disco, CastleR, Scott Cairo, Navin R Johnson, Peggy_P & Junecanny, DJ Firth, KrazyBen, GaraGara, Dan Untitled, Keon, ToTom and IamJstncrdble and Celebrity Murder Party topped and tailed the mix. seventytwo-six · 72.6 My favourite parts are the ones by Scott Cairo which is total insanity - Julie Andrews, DJNoNo approves, not-I's eclectic jazz mashup odyssey, LeeDM101's Kraftwerk boogie, fnogg's use of Bo Burnham and JJ Perrey, ah!'s use of Bob Hoskins, Happy Cat Disco following my section Bananarama's Venus and Blur, KrazyBen's Yazoo part, and CMP's Life on Earth intro and airhorn ending is *chefs kiss*. This time was the return of myself since the first 72, and the intention was to keep it simple - some of the previous parts had got rather too busy I thought, and not much use of rock and no 70's cheese! My part ranged from Beatles Tomorrow Never Knows to MOR classic Captain & Tennille's Love Will Keep Us Together, a secret nod to Boot In 60 Seconds, New Order's Regret to Prince meeting The Sweet. A challenge because me and rock mashups rarely mix - but given I have sped up my mashup process in the last years, it wasn't as difficult as the first one I did - where I needed ALL the hours just to get something done. I worked very slowly back then! Talking of the latter, I worked the last part up as a full mashup as I thought it was particularly good as 'Raspberry Fox' - as featured on 72.6! Raspberry Fox (Prince vs The Sweet) - as featured on 72.6!
