This one took a while to edit (a week and a half?) and is a Pride themed podcast with LGBTQ mashup artists and themes running throughout. Happy Pride! Also we say goodbye to a mashup artist, go very Crumplstrange in preparation for Crumplstock 9 later this month, and tracks from the three albums I reviewed here. The prejudice part is harder to explain, mostly re; a mashup community beef that now seems mostly settled but there aint half have been some DRAMA in the mashup community recently? Also personally on non-mashup forums been seeing a rise in general intolerance especially to trans folx from the TERF and the right-wing Straight Pride lot (you can see their laughable flag as part of the graphics above, as well as someone burning a Pride flag in real life a few years ago). It's like they feel emoldened this year and this Pride is weird, it feels like there are rainbows everywhere but less actual support? The allies need to step up, because a lot of stuff is being ignored and left to us LGBTQ* to deal with, and that's not cool, or even possible. But anyway, this podcast is more party than party political, but since Pride is both, we don't shy away from the harder stuff. I was stressing about playing that Bingo Starr track and actually I played it in 2006. What was I worrying about? Then again, with places I used to frequent becoming really touchy, right-wing and toxic (Boing Boing *cough*) to long term contributors, I do wonder if times have changed and what was seen as transgressive is now not OK? It's strangely right-wing though, because the bullies are still enabled and slide under any rules to troll at will, and the moderators wield power in ways that still enable patriarchy and the status quo. It's far from revolutionary, but pretending to be for optics, using our identity politics to attack minorities while pretending to be 'doing it for them'. Facebook, Google, Boing Boing, YouTube, Amazon it's all the same shit. Someone with a badge of power cannot be automatically trusted. Derek Chauvin's colleagues taught us that, standing by as he murdered George Floyd. A moderator badge or a police badge, unless they defund, divest and defuse their power and privilege they'll just be the same Camp Commandants as before, despite how diverse they are. It's telling that Marxist has become an insult, I think these people need a 101 course on how power works and is expressed in this society, and the imbalances of that expression - and that punching down is never equality however 'fair' it seems to those doing it.
