Another one gone: John Renbourne
So that’s the last of the Pentangle guitarists gone then – John Renbourne has died aged 70. Can’t say I’m totally into their jazz exploits – but when they branched out into folk or even funk (check out the drumming/groove on Light Flight) they were really good.

Light Flight for Bert Jansch – RIP
Amongst other news that will probably drown this out, sad to hear Bert Jansch has lost his fight also against cancer. Mega talented, and took me many years and one half of Lemon Jelly to appreciate Pentangle, but for this song alone I salute you – more funky than it ought to be yet also…

Dead Rabbit, Outer Hebrides 2006 Return to Summerisle for a musical Wicker sequel (one probably making more sense than Wicker Man II – yes it exists, yes it was written by Tony Shaffer, yes it was bonkers. Being molested by tree gods and throwing people off cliffs with eagles attached to them? Anyone?). This time…
