Bootie Christmas 7 & NOW Christmash

Now it’s December it’s time to use the C-word – yes Christmas.

And we have another Bootie Xmas mashup album, the 7th. It features tracks from Adriana A, iWillBattle – more of his festive fare shortly, Smashcolor, Titus Jones, MagicianMashup, mix4fun, IamJstncrdble, Marc Johnce (you might recognise the Katy Perry vs Nightwish mash, we played it last year), Hallmighty (ditto – his reverse of this Drivers License vs Cars was featured last year and still is great) and many more.

And yes one from me (well a tbc collaboration with Captain Obvious – Snow Patrol On The Beach – one of the many Taylor Swift bootlegs Midnights I’ve done recently. In fact it was partly inspired by Adriana’s Dorothea Goes Home For The Holidays, which is also featured and is one of my picks. Surprised there wasn’t more T-Swift or Snow on the Beach mashes, seemed obvious to me…

Recommendations apart from the ones I’ve played before which of course get the Radio Clash Walrus Of Approval, and the iWillBattle ones mentioned below, of the newer bunch I really like Marc Jonce’s Let’s Groove Last Christmas. – Earth Wind and Fire vs Wham. Hmm Last Christmas mashups eh? Who does those anymore? *cough*

I am so glad it’s a track that isn’t September. Although I guess that wouldn’t make much sense, unless Xmas came 3 months early?

Surprisingly my new Wham vs David Bowie Heroes mash narrowly beat it in the vote on the Twitch Listening Party where a lot of these tunes were selected.- surprised because it’s really good mash and is way better put together than mine which was thrown together just before the deadline.

So glad it made it here (if I was a voting man I’d bet the other way around, that Heroes would have made it and Snow Patrol would have been relegated to another year….but I totally get the limit on Last Christmas mashups! And not wanting too many moody mashes and what I call sadbangers).

IamJstncrdbl’s Fe-Kneesh Navidad (Megan Thee Stallon vs Aquadrop) is really fun too, not sure it’s my style on Radio Clash (might grow on me) but like the fact that somehow bonkers trance techno vocoder latin Xmas Feliz Navidad tracks are a thing! Works well with the rap too, always good to hear Megan.

And a certain Mashup Artist Who Will Not Be Named Here did do a very clever thing with his mash, re-singing bits of Mambo #5 to make it an Xmas song, I appreciate the talent and technique, if not the man.

And mentioning iWillBattle who featured a record? four times on the Bootie compilation, that’s a snowflake in the avalanche of 20 festive bangers he’s done on his NOW – The Xmas Bootlegs….I think Now Christmash might have been better, but maybe that was taken?

Anyway I love the NOW cover — very much part of my youth – and I’d recommend highly three of my faves from this that went straight into the play stack: I Believe In a Wasted Christmas (Greg Lake vs Tiësto), Shake God It’s Christmas (Queen vs Taylor Swift,,and Wannabe Christmastime (Paul McCartney vs The Spice Girls). The last two myself and Adriana concur are absolute festive bangers!

I suspect a few of these will creep into the Radio Clash podcast like a silent mouse.
