RC 332: Rain on Brass

Of course I recorded this autumnal podcast over a week ago when it was a rainy late August and early September with brass monkey weather….and now to utterly mock me we have a late Indian summer and bright sunshine! And lo this podcast seems completely irrelevant…until then next autumn shower. Maybe it’s sunny because of this podcast? If so you’re welcome!

Rain and brass….sunshine and showers….inspired by the covers I’ve been hearing friends such as Matt Catt streaming, we start with the Kitchen Disco segment, uptempo with covers of Daft Punk and 808 State and indeed a tribute segement to 808 State’s first album and first hit Pacific State released just over 30 years ago. Also new jungle and new Squarepusher, new Mr B and even Wet Ass Pussy 80’s style!

After the first hour of uptempo sunshine comes the rainstorm, with lockdown hits from Neville Staple and Ben Folds, Rage Against The Brass Machine, new mashups and recent tracks by the Orb, Daniel Avery, LSK, Askew Sisters and Kae Tempest, and classics from Playgroup, Paddy Kingsland, John Foxx, Eva Cassidy and Scala. And we pay tribute to Alan Parker who died in July.
