RC 331: Mashed Spaghetti aka Morecone!

With the sad death last month of Il Maestro Ennio Morricone I felt I needed to mark his passing better than just a song. From spaghetti western soundtracks, pop, remixes, mashups and even on the dance floor his music has influenced generations from cinema goers and musicians.

So just to prove his breadth of inspiration I pulled tracks out of my catalogue of things twangy and Western and trawled through hours of WhoSampled entries to find the ecstasy of buried gold in piles of corpses, thankfully not at gunpoint! Although it felt like it at times 🙂

I even managed to sneak in disco, lounge, jungle, vapourwave AND speed garage! And point out that a certain band has taken the old adage ‘great artists steal’ a little too close to heart – I mean same key, exact same bpm, and it mixes in perfectly? Hmm….
