new Negativland: True/Fake News

Some rumblings from the land that is Negativ:, there is a new release called Discernment from an album called True/False out on October 21st which seems like it’s a development from the True/False tour but very timely in this era of ‘Fake News’. Click here to pre-order, which comes with lots of bonus goodies AND you can pre-order the CD instead of the vinyl.

And even more good news: this double album is one of two, the next coming out in Spring!

Also what is this I see? Negativland finally touring Europe and the UK? I am SO THERE. And so should anyone who calls themselves a mashup/bootleg artist, these people are the grandaddies of mashup…I didn’t think this day would come! If you don’t know about Negativland (and you should, this is your mashup history) check out my two podcasts detailing their history – longterm listeners to Radio Clash would have heard one of their tracks at some point.

Yes I am a superfan, yes I am not going to apologise for that 😛

And as a side note of great (humble?)braggage, Negativland recently shared my 2004/2014 mashup of ‘I Still Haven’t Found It’ to their Facebook page, they hadn’t heard it before (I assumed they had). It was originally done for the GYBO Strings Challenge, but I was desperate to use Negativland in a mashup since they are the reason I got into all this bootleg/bastard pop/mashup business in the first place, after hearing that song during my degree in the early 90’s. So mashups seemed an obvious extension of that.

You can download that track here, 2014 version, or the 2004 original which was on Kodiak Moment, the one and only Instamatic ‘album’.
