Donna Summer’s ‘I Feel Love’ – the song that changed the future of music is 40 years old as of July (sorry punk, Sex Pistols et al but it really did change the course of history, pop of the last 4 decades would not exist without it and the techniques it pioneered, whereas punk was politically important but musically was nothing new).
So I love this Pitchfork article going into the history of the song. Of note is a really rare Peter Bellotte interview, and props to the lesser known engineers, synth players, drummers and musicians that made the song that supposedly ‘played itself’ happen. Go read!
