DJing at Crumplstock 6 – Sunday 7pm

A rare DJ set from me at Crumplstock, opening the stage on Sunday at 7pm GMT (UK time). Going to be a mix of silly crumplbangers e.g. soundclown/bootlegs/mashups/remixes, nu and old disco, jack/acid house, dub/reggae, rock, 80’s electro/breakdance and funk, although not really sure as it’s going to be a truly live set, off my head of what I’m digging at the moment and some classics.

You can listen live over at the site or on my Mixlr page, but you’ll miss the atmosphere and *airhorn* *kazoo* *supertrouper* of the main chat. Also I’m uploading 2 hours of rough live Tests where I was working through possible tracks which are pretty good mixes in themselves, and gives an idea of what I’ll play but you might not want to listen to them if you want the live show spoiled as there are some secrets in there!

Hopefully fixed the Mixlr gremlins that dogged my impromptu late-night mix on a previous Crumplstock, because they’ve created ‘Audiolink’ which means I can monitor via my external soundcard, locally record AND stream out to Mixlr – before I needed my mixer to fix those issues but I’ve sold it.

BTW anyone thinking of DJing with Traktor Pro on Mixlr here’s my tip:

Follow the old advice of how to use Hercules controller but don’t install Soundflower, just use the Audiolink instead for the Master output (you need Mixlr version 20 or later), then just use the monitoring channels of your card (in my case that’s Channel B 3/4 for Audio4DJ). Tested this and seems to work fine. Soundflower is a bit flaky anyway, or was although now it’s being updated. Mixlr doesn’t work with Jack, if you’re thinking of using that – and no you can’t just loop back Audio In > Out with a cable, on the Audio4DJ that just creates a feedback loop. And of course the newest Macs have no mic/input. Grr.
