Russian Electronics – ANS

A random comment about KLF’s Space using some music from Solaris lead me to this, Musical Offering which is an album of Russian electronica circa 1971. Created on a machine called the ANS (Alexander Nikolayevich Scriabin) synthesiser created by Evgeny Murzin, a photo-electric machine but sounds way before it’s time (apparently created between 1937 and 1957). Although sounding similar in technology to Daphne Oram’s Oramics, also predates that. Beautiful ghostly sounds, seemingly with more pitch control and versatility than Oramics.

More in this album from 1969, going to track these down!
