I Got Knocked Down (But I’ll Get Up)

What can I say about the shitshow that’s been this week? The horror of Orlando, and now the killing of Jo Cox, there just does seem to be some extremist kickback happening, from homophobia, Islamophobia to fascist scaremongering and actual violence. Division and a distinct possibility that UK will vote to leave Europe, leaving us alone with the likes of Nigel ‘1930’s Nazi Hate Poster’ Farage and ‘I Have A Piece of Paper’ BoJo.

But this post isn’t for those who hate, it’s for those affected by the violence, scared by the extremism and division that is going on. This is a message for all out there that are feeling down, starting to heal, afraid, affected by what’s happened. Here’s the School of Seven Bells with their Joey Ramone cover “I Got Knocked Down (But I’ll Get Up)”. Sad when you know it was the last recorded song of band-member Benjamin Curtis had been battling T-cell Lymphoblastic Lymphoma, same cancer that took Joey, but it’s also hopeful in the face of utter horror and sadness…
