It’s sunny – a rare thing in the United Kingdom of Drizzle, and blasting out new music from a band I’d not previously heard of – PBS’73 and their Viewers Like You album. I heard of them via the excellent Lloydbrary #80 and immediately tracked down their Bandcamp and bought the album. ‘Viewers Like You’, ‘Helios Hills’ and of course ‘American Summer’ are highlights so far.
If you’re a fan of Boards of Canada, Black Moth Super Rainbow, Public Service Broadcasting et al you’ll love this…ambient nostalgic warm electronica sprinkled with dreamy audio samples. In fact it’s so Boards of Canada I do wonder if it’s actually them…but even if not, given the fact it’ll probably take another decade or two before BOC release another piece of music it’s good to have someone else mining those hills. Also I hear good things about their record label EyeSix, you can also download a free/pay what you want compilation to check them out.
