It’s been a Radiophonic sort of day, courtesy of Ian Fondue – starting with listening to John Baker’s Vendetta Tapes – it took me a long time to get around to this. I especially like Orbit and Lively Mind which I’ve never heard before, and bought again the COI Pavillion and Man Alive UFO cue since they sound remastered compared to the hissy versions on the Trunk Records John Baker Tapes Vol 1 which I bought on CD aeons ago.
Talking of Trunk Records, I ‘m loving this mix from 2012 via Ian Lloyd of Robin The Fog aka Howlround standing in for Jonny Trunk on the OST show on ResonanceFM. It’s full of the strange gems of BBC Records, from records about dialects, yoga and Royal Navy to stereo test records, kids records, sound effects and of course our friends at the BBC Radiophonic workshop. You’ll recognise the Paddy Kingsland, John Baker and Delia Derbyshire tracks from the Radio Clash podcasts and posts over the years, and of course the Delia Digital Debris special.

He also includes some of his recordings from The Ghosts of Bush, recordings made from Bush House – the ancestral home of the BBC, well before the likes of TV Centre (RIP)…well worth checking out as it’s not only Bandcamp (yay!) but also pay what you want.
