Westminster Product Recall

Yes they are very dangerous, and ironically get really shirty about ‘old views’ (read: 4 years ago) being dug up. I mean what’s a death penalty between friends? :-/ Also funny in the Question Time clip Priti Patel says “A lot of politicians run away from this debate…” – like you’re doing here?

And as a friend pointed out:

Just to check I’ve got this right, in the last few days the Government has:

  • According to the press, ‘declared war on the BBC’ and, it is reported, threatened it during the election campaign for reasons of political gain.
  • Planned to amend the constituency boundaries in its favour.
  • Announced its intention to repeal the Human Rights Act and, potentially, distance the country from the ECHR set up after the war, potentially damaging the Good Friday Agreement and, even more, our relationship with Scotland.
  • Planned to amend the Freedom of Information Act so that Parliament can veto the decisions of the independent judiciary.
  • Renewed plans for a ‘snoopers charter’.
  • Confirmed a continuing squeeze on public sector pay.
  • Announced plans for legitimacy of striking likely to make strikes all but impossible.
  • Refused to work with others in the EU to take our share of rescued immigrants in the Med, with Theresa May suggesting any rescued should be sent back.
  • Announced plans for disruption orders [‘designed to restrict those trying to radicalise young people‘ but of course could be misused – Tim].

That’s since Friday, and I suspect a few have been missed off this list since it was written (certainly the squeeze on those claiming benefits is probably hidden at the back). LibDems were evil, but the 7 things (BTW: Fuck the Independent, the scabs) they stopped the Tories from doing, yes too evil for even the Yellow Tories – are now coming back fast. And what are people talking about? Tutting about ‘FUCK TORY SCUM’ on a war memorial, and gloating about the victory and penning pieces about how it’s SO HARD to be a poor Tory Student with those Nasty Lefty Types that wear badges ‘Never Kissed A Tory’. (I suggest ‘Never Kissed A Shy Tory’ as a modern update…).

Yeah…all those shy Tories, look on what you’ve done. I hope you feel happy, because no-one else is…we are in fact scared and worried that this is sliding into a very divided and toxic experiment in neo-liberalism that would even make Thatcher say ‘That’s a little too soon, too quickly?’. If they want social cohesion to fail, then bring in a police state, they are doing the right(-wing) thing. Text book stuff.
