(Band be like – stop that piano shit NOW)

Cowboy Prog Atmospheric Icelandic Metal with Neil Young influences anyone? Well, boo to you it sounds ace…and this is an amazingly shot video, although after watching Lost Gold Of The Highlands I could be just on a beautifully shot lake kick. You can NEVER go wrong with a helicopter lake shot. Ever.

Anyway as well as the self-claimed Neil Young and Joy Division (strangely with the banjo-twangy bits I’m think more this oddly, but goodly) influences listening to Ótta I hear other things – the lazy one all journalists probably reach for is ‘metal Sigur Rós’, but also maybe it’s the cover but Godspeed You! Black Emperor post-rock is in there, as well as Metallica circa Unforgiven (which I’ve just read their first album is the reason Aðalbjörn “Addi” Tryggvason started doing music).

So yeah prog cowboy icelandic metal it is, but seems so much more. Now I need a loch to go jump into… (via Steve Potz-Rayner)
