Everybody’s heard about the bird

And everybody should hear this mashup ‘Surfin Beasties’ from Pimpdaddysupreme – Family Guy vs Trashmen vs Diplo vs Beasties, made for BOOTIE DragonCon and recently made into a video by PDS. As he details in the description (you should click on the link to read that), all the tracks included themselves have a chequered copyright history, including the Trashmen ‘Surfin Bird’ itself which is itself a sort of medley-mashup, as he explains:

Originally rumored to be written by Leonard Bernstein to show his disdain for rock’n’roll by proving that any song could become a hit, “Surfing’ Bird” was actually a musical mashup of two songs by The Rivingtons. “Papa-Oom-Mow-Mow” and The Sorensen Brothers’ cover of The Rivingtons’ “The Bird’s The Word.” (Which itself was a take on Red Prysock’s “What’s the word? Thunderbird!”) The Rivingtons later successfully sued The Trashmen for plagiarism.
