One of the best compilations or mixes this side of Ruby Trax, Cosmosonica, Soulwax and David Holmes is Tryptych by Fred Deakin. It like the others I mentioned introduced me to several artists, and got me scrabbling to locate some of the tracks (always the good sign of any mix, podcast or compilation). And anything that has the balls to include the Carpenters unironically (cos they are ace and world, sorry you are wrong, also see Fleetwood Mac, Clannad and others) always wins me over.
I didn’t know though there were 2 limited promo mixes around the release, and here’s one posted by Mr Deakin himself on his soundcloud. Check it out, there are many mixes for download, inc seemingly some early tape ones. (via PomDeter) Now to find #1…
