THIS is what the internet, and the shorter documentaries are for, a window into somebody else’s world. And Hal Lasko‘s world at 98 in the shape of his art is magical. I was sceptical when I clicked because sometimes people are kind but a little condescending (OMG look at this old person doing something technical that we assume only young people can do! Err, right…) but his work is really good, from a pixel art perspective, and a plain ol’ art perspective. LOVE. Also quite right about wanting to keep the pixels, they are part of the medium, like pointillism, and should not be ‘covered’ over.
I think people forget that technology isn’t just distractions and fripperies, it can enable people who otherwise wouldn’t be able.
