Vuvuvultures, or buying records on triangles alone

I almost bought this EP from VuVuVultures on Record Store Day because of the excellent cover with 3 triangles (Tims Tip: buy records with triangles on the cover, they’re usually good. Yes I know that means you’d buy most of the Tri Angle back catalogue, but then again what’s wrong with that? Almost got the Balam Acab LP too…) but wished I had now, sounds like an excellent debut from this London band. Then again I love the criminally ignored These New Puritans, and I can hear similarities with them, or a Yeasayer/Iceage hybrid (I hate to compare them to anyone else though).

And Ctrl-Alt-Mexicans is a brilliant name, as is their bandname, and sounds like a wonky version of The Model played on dysfunctional Ukeleles and distinctly distempered guitars. Yes, that good 😀

Glad after being rather confused about the 80-90% of the buzzed/featured new bands I didn’t recognise in Rough Trade *eek* that my good-new-band-dar is still working.
