Looking from a Hilltop – RIP Larry Cassidy

Word has got through via the NoRecordShopsLeft blog that Larry Cassidy of Section 25 has died. Who you might say?

Well Section 25 was part of the Factory Records roster, formed in Blackpool in 1977, and one of those few electro/dance acts that prefigured and prescribed acid house, linking electro to it’s future Detroit home.

And they were produced by a certain Bernard Sumner.

Check out the 12″ (Restructure?) version of ‘Looking from a Hilltop’ above to hear what I mean. Also check out ‘Girls Don’t Count’ and ‘Dirty Disco’ which are on the Factory box set.

Anyway Mr Cassidy and the rest of Section 25 – I salute you.
