Mashup Preservation Society

Quite an interesting blog called Mashup Preservation Society has popped up reposting a lot of the early mashup albums from 2003-2005.

Even a few of mine on there! Good albums mostly so far, recommended. But how is posting them to a file-sharing site that will probably nuke the files/not stick around really ‘preserving’ them? I do agree these things need to be preserved though, so full marks for the effort.

How is it preservation? Because people like me, who weren’t around for them at the time, and who obsessively collect shiny objects, can get them. Then, once people like me have them, well, there’ll be more people around to share them later. Same reason I was happy when all the Sixx Mixxes got shared a while back.

In other news, I was just pestering someone to download American Edit. Glad to have a place to send her that’s better than j random torrent site, now.

Yup, appears to be dead…Wonder what happened? (Did Guido “Record Company Thug” vonSueYourAss show up at the blogger’s doorstep?)

No idea…no idea who it was either.

Very odd, but they did repost the Gray Album and Beastles – that said, they didn’t host them but blogspot is particularly unhelpful so maybe they nixed it.
