RC 271: Pop Is Dead #6 – Dead Pod Stars mashup and eclectic music podcast on the pop industry - cover art is a goodbye collage of Radio Clash history as this was the last podcast for over 3 years.

RC 271: Pop Is Dead #6 – Dead Pod Stars

This will be my monument
This will be a beacon when I’m gone…
So that when the moment comes,
I can say I did it all with love

A bumper self-indulgent 10th anniversary show – 2 shows in one! If you listen at the 1:30 mark you’ll realise why it’s so long 😉

First half is the last Pop Is Dead show, Dead Pop Stars, talking about the obsession with death in pop music – a little death and self-destruction sells, from 2Pac and Buddy Holly to Amy, Nick Drake, Sid Vicious and Kurt Cobain – and the death of pop music generally, about Europop and the love of money. Second half is a wake for the podcast called Dead Pod Stars…yes this is the last Radio Clash as announced elsewhere.

The Bladerunner track is by Remake – first heard (by me anyway) on Renaissance (Sasha & John Digweed) 3CD mix 1994 – one of the first commercially released DJ Mixes.
